Dimensioning Optimization of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator for Direct Drive Wind Turbines

In the present work, a methodology that allows optimizing permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) design by establishing limit values of radius and length maximize efficiency for nominal parameters wind turbine is developed. The consists two fundamental models. One model calculates from base, other optimization determines optimum generators according to criteria maximum with minimum weight starting axial base. For optimization, numerical method golden section was used. validated 10 kW PMSG results are presented criteria. addition, when obtained compared reference electric generator, an increase in 1.15% 0.81% reduction 30.79% 39.15% optimized weight, respectively. Intermediate options between selection dimensioning as function design.
